Sos Gattos, le maschere tradizionali del Carnevale di Sarule

The main mask of Sarule Carnival is “sa Maschera a Gattu".The mask carries “duos oddes", the two skirts of the traditional custom, worn on the reverse tohide the lacework and ensure the anonymousness, a small white blanket on her head as a symbol ofbirth, a black veil in front of her visage as an emblem of death and a red band around her head tosymbolize the wedding.The moppet which is doomed to die at the end of the carnival is called "su Maimone", and is asymbol of good omen: in the ancient times, the moppet was exposed in the fields to wish a goodyear to the farmers and shepherds.
